Christ Rules All Things for the Church

Forty days ago, the quiet of Lent was shattered by the Alleluias of Easter. For forty days, the Church has celebrated the blessed results of our Lord’s resurrection. “Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!” Forty days after Jesus rose from the dead, he departed from his disciples and was enthroned in glory in heaven. On Thursday, May 14, we celebrate the day he ascended to heaven, from where he rules all things—for the benefit of his people, the Church— as our Lord and King.


Worship with us at the Festival of the Ascension of Our Lord. This is a joint worship service of the Racine WELS churches and Wisconsin Lutheran School. WLS grades 6-8 and the Joint Church Choir will be singing. Worship is at 7:00 pm at First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Here are some thoughts that didn’t make it into Sunday’s sermon. The Old Testament lesson for the 2nd Sunday after Epiphany is the account of Moses turning the water of the Nile River into blood. The second verse I read was from the King James Version. If you’re older than 50, that’s the version of the Bible that you heard in church and learned in catechism class.
