What is mentoring?
What
is mentoring?
Ephesians
4:15 – “Speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who
is the Head, that is Christ.”
Mentoring is an aspect of
Christian discipleship. Mentoring is a
formalized way that believers can help each other. To mentor someone is to encourage and support
them while using our spiritual gifts and working as a team to equip, encourage,
and educate one another. This is very
important work that needs to be done.
The Church’s role is to encourage and equip our church family so
that we can honor Christ through the way we live our life. The heart of mentoring is taking care of
souls. We rejoice in good times and give
comfort when needed. This is done with
compassion, patient attentiveness, generous open-heartedness, and gentle
inquisitiveness. We need only to open
our Bibles to see great examples of Christian mentors.
