The Gospel of Mark

Our Gospel lessons for this year are mainly taken from the Gospel according to Mark. Mark’s Gospel is a Gospel of action. Matthew emphasizes Jesus’ fulfillment of the Old Testament for his Jewish audience. Luke explains especially the early years of Jesus’ ministry to assure his audience of the Gentile friend  named Theopholis. John’s Gospel is very deep, where we have to pause and reflect at every sentence. Not so with Mark. His is a book of action that rapidly proceeds from one event to another. Mark is building to the culmination explained at the end of the Gospel, as the Roman centurion stands at the foot of the cross and exclaims, “Surely this man was the Son of God.”

Join us this Sunday for our new Bible study on the Gospel of Mark. Be excited by the action. Be fulfilled in the emotion. Be assured in the Son of God. Adult Bible studies are on Sunday morning from 9:15-10:15 am
