The message of the Lord

Finally, brothers, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. 2 Thessalonians 3:1

Paul had a wonderful enthusiasm to bring people the saving message of the Gospel. He sought to spread the Word of life whenever and wherever he could. He recognized the urgency of telling people about Jesus and how the Savior rescued them from sin and hell. He asked, “How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?” (Romans 10:15)

The Kimyal People Receive the New Testament from UFM Worldwide on Vimeo.

Watch this video of the Kimval people of Papua, Indonesia, receiving the complete New Testament in their own language for the very first time. I pray that a number of things will strike you, as they did me. First, you will probably, like me, recognize the apathy and slothfulness of our own efforts to study and meditate upon God’s Word. Confess your sin of lackluster attention to God’s Word. Then, rejoice that the Light of Christ has come upon these dear people. There joy is infectious as all the people line up to await and celebrate the arrival of the plane bringing God’s Word in their own language.

I absolutely loved the prayer of Siud, the pastor, praying beside the plane holding a shipment of Bibles! What a wonderful prayer to equate Simeon waiting for the light of salvation in the Christ and now Siud waiting for the light of salvation in these Bibles!

Two Bible verses of the End Times come to mind when watching this video of jubilation at the reception of God’s Word. First is Jesus' promise: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14). The second is John’s vision of a white horse in his Revelation, “I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest” (Revelation 6:2) The Lord Jesus Himself is riding this white horse which symbolizes the Gospel which is bent on conquest over the entire world.

This conquest is happening in Epiphany Lutheran Church, Racine, WI! It is happening in Papua, Indonesia!

It is vitally important for people to hear about Jesus, so that the Holy Spirit has the opportunity to work on their hearts. Therefore, include in your prayers the plea that God will cause the good news of salvation through Jesus to spread rapidly so that many people may hear its message of free forgiveness and eternal life. Pray that the word of God be honored by those who hear it—that through the power of the gospel the Holy Spirit turn people from damning unbelief to saving faith in Jesus.

And also pray that we may be as excited about God’s Word as the people of Papua!
