Our God is an Awesome God

Last Sunday our Sunday School children signed while we had a soloist and the congregation sing the verses and refrain of "Our God is an Awesome God." I thought it was beautiful! I had tears in my eyes. Unfortunately, I don't have a recording of that song, but the one I have for you here is still beautiful. It contains video from The Passion of the Christ.

Everett Fullam was in Libera in 1969 when the two Americans, Armstrong and
Aldin walked on the moon. He told the Gheo tribe chief this was happening, and the old man looked up to the moon and said, "There's nobody up there." He sounded angry and added, "Besides, that is not big enough for two people to stand on." He had no conception of the size of the moon. The result is, he could not feel the awe of those who knew the wonder of what was taking place.

If you have a small, limited view of this world, you will have a small, limited view of the God who created it. That is why this song is so beautiful. Our God is an awesome God -- in creation, in judgment, in love.

David could proclaimin his Psalm: "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands" (Psalm 19:1). David is full of the marvel and wonder of creation. He gazes into the vast wonder of the universe and asks God, "What is puny man that you are mindful of him?"

The more you grasp the magnitude of creation, the more you will gasp at the majesty of the God who made it.

Our God is an awesome God!
