Worship & Athletics

Being involved in athletics or other activities in our children’s school is great, but they will not get us or our children into heaven. The only tools that the Holy Spirit has given us poor sinners for receiving salvation is the Means of Grace - the Gospel in Word and Sacrament. Those all-important tools are offered in the sanctuaries of our churches, not in the stands or along the sidelines of our athletic events. These tools do not come by just being active in the school.

Parents need to realize that being active at our school on Friday or Saturday does not make them good parents. What makes them good parents is raising their children in the training and instruction of the Lord so that they might all be in heaven together one day.

If parents can spend a few hours helping the classroom or 1-4 hours on bleachers on Friday and Saturday honoring their children, they can spend 1-2 hours in worship to honor their Savior God. Being active does not get us or our children into heaven. Only God’s activity through His Son, Jesus Christ does that.
