Epiphany’s Exterior Remodel Recap
- $79,650.00 paid to Weather Tight Corp.
- $452.00 paid for storage container
- $350.00 paid for trash dumpster
- $250.00 paid for fuel for lift and transportation fees
- Jeff & Cindy Knepper, owners of Five Star Rental and members of First Evan, donated the use of the lift, saving us $2,050. The $2,050 savings will probably be used to landscape the front of the church.
The work on the exterior of our
church and school was necessary. It wasn’t only cosmetic – even though the
siding was severely faded and rusting. There was significant damage throughout
the siding, fascia and gutters that needed attention.
Moderate damage to the
fascia on the west side of the building was discovered, as well as severe
damage to the gutter system. Moderate
damage was found over the school entryway as water was beginning to penetrate
the building. Severe damage was
discovered on upper gable by the attic windows on the east side of the building
where water was beginning to penetrate into the building.
The windows of the north gable
were eliminated, as these were actually falling out of the building due to
severe rotting. It was also discovered
that water had been penetrating into the lower roof system.
During the course of construction,
gutter downspouts were relocated to disperse water away from the building and
walkways. Unfortunately, it has been
determined that water being dispersed into front sidewalk area for numerous
years has undermined the dirt underneath the front entryway causing this to
drop. This problem will need to be
addressed in the near future.
All the storm windows that now
cover the stained glass windows are impact resistant. The cost of this was
somewhat offset by not using the gutter guard on the school parking lot side.
The reason for not using the gutter guards in this area is that it is prone to
create icicles in freezing conditions, and we felt this would be a safety issue
for our guests and children.
We hope that everyone is pleased
with the final results of the refurbishing of the exterior of the church and
school. Any question can be directed to
