Walk Through The World Differently

October 19, 1989, 5:04 PM in San Francisco. When the Loma Prieta earthquake rumbled, Dan was on the 32nd floor of a swaying high rise. Of course the phones went dead, so he couldn’t call to make sure his daughter was safe. The elevators didn’t work, so when the swaying building stood straight once again, he hiked down the stairwell to his car. Out on the street, the stoplights were not functioning—whereupon he witnessed a rather amazing thing. People were not jamming the intersections with panic. Even though many were probably going home to make sure everybody was safe and to see what the damage was, the drivers were politely and courteously taking their turn, waiting, stopping, going; waiting, stopping, going. Nobody was cutting through. Nobody was leaning on their horn. At every intersection, it was as if everybody knew there was a crisis at hand, and they behaved very differently from an ordinary weekday after work.

We as Christians walk through the world differently. We know we are living in the End Times when our Master could return at any time. We are living, as if in anticipation of the next quake that will shake the foundations of our lives. Soon, we will hear the trumpet call of call of God announcing the end of the world and the beginning of eternity. In anticipation of that great day, we walk through the world differently.

You and your teenagers are invited to a very relevant and timely Bible study this November and December. In the Christian Church Year we are celebrating the seasons of End Times and Advent, when we remember that our Lord Jesus could come back at any time.
We begin this new Bible study on “End Times: Jesus is Coming Soon” on Sunday, November 17 at 9:15 am in Epiphany’s church basement.
These are the topics for the upcoming weeks.
