WELS Announcements for Oct 23

In leading up to a worldwide celebration of the 500th Anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation in October of 2017 every pastoral conference of the WELS has been encouraged to hold a special conference reformation worship service this year. Please plan on setting aside Sunday afternoon October 30 to gather with other WELS members from the congregations of our region at Faith Lutheran of Antioch for a special worship service beginning at 4:00 PM.

Musicians and vocalists from the area have been invited to add their talents to this service. Professor Stephen Geiger of Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary will be the preacher. A special volunteer choir will be assembled for this service and will rehearse that Sunday afternoon from 2:30-3:30 PM at Faith (please see pastor or your senior choir director for more information about singing with the choir. The pastors’ choir will practice from 3:30-3:45 pm. We have much to celebrate and thank our Lord for in the Scriptural heritage that is ours as confessional Lutherans. Please consider this special opportunity to join fellow Christian from throughout the area in joining our hearts and voices in praise to the Lord for the blessings of the Lutheran Reformation.

‘WELS Israel Trip’ - A WELS trip to Israel has been planned for during Christmas break next year, and it’s open to anyone interested. This tour is offered by a professional company with years of experience – the same one our Seminary uses for our pastor’s continuing education trips.  This group will also have WELS pastors along to lead worship and devotions at various Biblical sites, including Pastor Neumann of Mt Zion, Kenosha (who has been to Israel twice) and Pastor Yahnke, formerly of St. Luke’s Kenosha who is now at Trinity in Watertown.  If you’d like to find out more about this trip, join us at Mt. Zion Kenosha (5927 37th Ave, Kenosha WI 53144) on Tuesday, October 25th at 6:30pm OR Saturday morning, November 5th at 10am. At these meetings, goodies and refreshments will be provided, the specific itinerary will be shared, and we will answer questions, specifically addressing issues like: what about my safety over there, what will the accommodations be like, if I am going alone will I have a roommate, how strenuous is the itinerary, what will I be eating, what about spending money and do I need to convert my money, what if something comes up next year and I can’t go after signing up, etc.  Come explore this wonderful opportunity before you make a final decision.  This trip of a lifetime will have wonderful blessings for your family and for your faith! If you have questions, contact Pastor Neumann at 262-652-3054 or pastorNmtzionwi.org.
